General Information:

Assessor's information on this web site is considered "open records". We are simply making our "open records" available in a more accessible information form.

Our office makes every effort to produce and publish the most accurate and current information available. We change our ownership records based on deeds as recorded with the County. If a property is located in the Wood County part of the City of Marshfield, the deeds are recorded with the Wood County Register of Deeds at the Courthouse in Wisconsin Rapids. If a property is located in the Marathon County part of the City of Marshfield, the deeds are recorded at the Property Description Office at the Courthouse in Wausau.

WE ARE NOT AN ABSTRACT COMPANY, SO WE DON'T DETERMINE WHO HAS THE BETTER TITLE TO PROPERTY IF THE PUBLIC RECORDS CONFLICT AS TO OWNERSHIP.

We do not have any information as to whether taxes have been paid for any particular property. For tax information, you should contact the County Treasurer. Some properties also have ongoing special assessments. These costs for services are added to the tax bills over a period of time until paid in full. Information on special assessments can be obtained from Marshfield's City Clerk - debbieh@ci.marshfield.wi.us or Deputy City Clerk - lori@ci.marshfield.wi.us.

Our building dimensions have been measured and are "adjusted or rounded" in a consistent and accurate manner for use in our appraisal system. Effective dimensions have been entered for lot sizes based on the overall square feet of land included in a property.
