The Wenzel Family Plaza will first be open to the public on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 beginning at 5:30 pm. As part of the grand opening celebration, food and refreshments will be provided by a donation from the Wenzel Family. This multi-use plaza will provide a year round gathering space for the entire community, a place for the arts, events, families, lunch hour gatherings, relaxation, and entertainment. Some of the features and uses include a performance stage for outdoor concerts, a visually appealing water feature for kids to cool off in the hot summer days, dining and seating areas, parking for the plaza and the surrounding downtown area, outdoor farmers markets, and much more.

With the assistance from the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, the Wenzel Family Plaza is an excellent example of a successful public-private partnership project. Many generous donors, including Russell R. Wenzel Public Park Fund and Harry J. and Violet Wenzel Family, Everett & Dolores Roehl, Nelson-Jameson, Marshfield Clinic Health System, Security Health Plan, Staab Construction Corp., David & Tammy Meissner, Forward Bank, Howard Family, Simplicity Credit Union, Arlan & Priscilla Ferch Family, the City of Marshfield Economic Development Board, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Marshfield Convention & Visitors Bureau, City of Marshfield, Main Street Marshfield, as well as many other local businesses and residents, came together to help fund this great space in the heart of downtown. The contractor for the Plaza was the Boson Company and Marshfield Monument provided assistance with the naming recognition plaques. The City of Marshfield would like to thank the great companies, organizations, and individuals involved in the project.

We look forward to this being the first of many great events to be held at the Wenzel Family Plaza. Be sure to check out Main Street Marshfield’s website for future events at the Wenzel Family Plaza:
