The Department of Public Works is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of a broad range of infrastructure and facilities. This includes streets, traffic control, sanitary and storm sewers, greenways, vehicles/equipment, public buildings, parking lots, and the wastewater treatment plant.

The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide quality infrastracture services for the residents of Marshfield, WI through our three divisions:
Planning, budgeting, design and coordination of all public construction and maintenance projects. Provides information to the public regarding land / structures, existing sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water mains and their corresponding service laterals, street construction plans, aerial photos and city plats / certified survey maps.
Street overlay, mill-in-place and reconstruction projects. Providing information for the collection for brush, branch, leaf and yard waste along with garbage and recycling programs.
Treats liquid wastewater genereated by residential, business and industrial users of the sanitary sewer system to remove suspended solids and othe contaminants which could be harmful to people, animals and the environment.
